Aval
Aval is an exquisite oil painting from artist Zane Bradford that exemplifies the beauty and grandeur of a magnificent Peregrine Falcon.
The artist recently traveled to Falaise D’Aval in France and encountered the peregrines in flight among the breathtaking ivory cliffs. This depiction reflects a tranquil Peregrine, perhaps resting after a strenuous flight. The fastest animal on earth, Peregrine Falcons can reach 240 miles per hour on their dives, and they can capture prey almost twice their size. They personify mythical aviators with incredible abilities not rivaled by any other creature on the planet.
Driven to the brink of extinction in the 1970’s, the species is fully recovered thanks to the exceptional efforts of The Peregrine Fund now based in Boise, Idaho. TPFs conservation efforts have led to restoration of several species of birds of prey, not just the Peregrine Falcon.
