The Ornate Hawk Eagle

This striking species from tropical Mexico, Central and South America is one of the most beautiful eagles in the world. These threatened raptors face an uphill battle for survival given the massive deforestation in their native habitats. Pure white at birth, this species develops into one of the most beautiful Eagles in the world. These elusive forest aviators are fierce yet elegant, commanding yet docile as evidenced in this detailed artwork. The intense gaze zeroing in on its quarry is etched into the clay surface with precision and artistic mastery. It's regal crest standing high, peaking interest as is demonstrated in this India Ink etching by CC Wari. The artist used intricate fine lines to bring plumage to life in this India Ink etching print.

India ink etchings start with a thin pure white layer of kaolin clay layered onto a heavy paper or Masonite board that is then covered with black India ink.  The ink is etched away revealing the clay layer beneath it and thus revealing the subject matter.  The India ink is removed using fine knives or even hypodermic needles to etch the ink away revealing the image or subject matter. Larger etchings can take weeks or even months to create.  CC Wari demonstrates a masterful control of this process in her etchings which is why her works are so highly sought after.  Her original artworks demonstrate precise line work, delicate cross-hatching, and stippling to build form, depth, and texture and obtain detail that is unmatched in the world of India ink etchings.   This creates an almost photographic level of attention to detail while capturing the soul and spirit of her subject matter.  CC Wari’s brilliant use of the dramatic monochrome technique conveys each of her subjects with a unique majesty and grandeur all their own.   They make a highly valued addition to any art collection, home or business.
